The Void ...and Designercon 2016!

Galaxxor 011 levitated just above the mirror-like surface of a giant disk floating in the blackness of space. Multi-colored bolts of cosmic energy crackled around him. Before Galaxxor, the towering projection of the Infiniton, one of The Seven Space Gods, loomed. It spoke-

There is a crisis in the Lazarus Sector, Galaxxor. Your brothers, 002 and 005, are currently locked in battles on two fronts. It is the intention of Lord Gorgax to bolster his forces there. As I speak, the Space Barbarian Skalldron has taken Gorgax's greatest ship, The Void, and filled it with soldiers from The Evil Mutant Legion. They are headed directly for The Lazarus Sector in hope of turning the tide of the conflict, and crushing your brothers. It is up to you, Galaxxor 011, to intercept The Void, and eliminate this threat.

The Void sliced through the swirling cosmic expanse of space. It was a massive longship built of a material so black, that it only registered as the total absence of light. In its control room, Skalldron gathered a group of 13 of his most elite warriors. Facing away from them, he looked upon a sprawling holoscreen. Amid clusters of arcane data readings was the image of Cerberus, a moon-sized pyramidal space fortress. Skalldron turned to face his men, steam rising from the joints in his armor. From the empty blackness of his helm, an eerie yellow glow projected from his cybernetic eyes.

Prepare your troops, Generals. We reach The Lazarus Sector in four cycles!

Once again this year, I have the honor of attending Designercon (Nov 19th and 20th in Pasadena, CA) as an exhibitor. I'll be at booth #1001 with my friends and fellow Glyosians The Godbeast, Mystical Warriors of the Ring and Bio Masters. I'll be bringing along what little stock I have left of Galaxxor 001/Thanyr, Gorgax/Roxxalag and Galaxxor 007/Infernicus. I will also be debuting a brand new figure, one which is heavily inspired by one of my all time favorite properties, Galaxxor 011/Skalldron. As with the other Glyos-compatible Galaxxor vinyl figures, Galaxxor 011/Skalldron will come with both the dome and the horned head.
Galaxxor 011/Skalldron will be $30 each and will debut at the con. Leftovers will be available on galaxxor.com following the show.
Looking forward to seeing you at Dcon!

The Battle Begins- 08.22.16 at 8pm Central

It has been 100 years since the great cosmic robot hero, Galaxxor, was killed.
Slain by the dreaded Lord Gorgax with a planet sized weapon known as The Ultimate Nullifier Cannon, the physical being of our robot hero was splintered into 999 shards, each flung to the far reaches of the pocket dimension known as The Alpha. Almost immediately, a glowing green shell formed around the home of The Seven Space Gods, the crystalline planet, Alpha Primarus.
Over the past 100 years, Gorgax, his elite cadre of Cyborg Space Barbarian henchmen, and their Evil Mutant Legion has wreaked havoc upon the countless worlds of The Alpha. Some planets have held strong, but others have fallen to darkness and chaos.
But there is hope.
The neon shell that has surrounded Alpha Primarus has disappeared, and brilliant explosions of cosmic power are appearing at random locations, throughout The Alpha. In places like the giant blue sun, Anubis 5, and the hive world known as "Dragon City", new Galaxxors are appearing.
On 08.22.16, the battle begins!

It's been a long road to the full realization of this first batch of fully painted Galaxxor figures, from Galaxxor 001 and 007 to that bad, bad dude Gorgax, I'm truly unable to express just how excited I am about how nicely these figures came out. Even the "alt" characters, the Cyborg Space Barbarians Thanyr and Infernicus, and that mysterious entity known as "Roxxalag" blow my mind every time I pick them up and play around with them.
Hopefully, these guys are indicators to you of all of the fun and weirdness that we have in store for the future. It's going to be a crazy ride. Thanks for coming along with me!
Here's the word on the 08.22 drop-

GALAXXOR 001/THANYR:

GORGAX/ROXXALAG:

All kinds of thanks, once again, goes to Matt Doughty and Marty Hansen, for their invaluable guidance. And Mark Vasquez, for all of his help, behind the scenes.

The Cosmic Supernova- 05.25.16 at 8pm Central

In a lost dimension, light years from our world, super-powered cosmic robots do battle with Cyborg Space Barbarians for the fate of the universe! And soon, their power will be in your hands!

At the heart of the cataclysmic event known as The Cosmic Supernova, amidst the swirling energies of The Alpha dimension and the The Omega dimension, Galaxxor and Gorgax are locked in combat. Glowing cosmic green, the outcome of their conflict will alter The Galaxxorverse's timeline forever! It is an epic battle at the end of all things, and sets the cosmic wheels in motion for the beginning of an even more epic saga...

I still have a very vivid memory of being very young, being surrounded by my old MOTU figures, and my mother saying to my grandmother, "Someday, he's going to make toys."
It's been a long journey to this point. With the help of some humblingly talented collaborators, I've been creating Galaxxor figures, in the form of resin and custom toys for many years. And now, we're about to start a new chapter of the Galaxxor story with full production, Glyos-compatible vinyl action figures!

To adequately express how excited I am to be able to bring you production Galaxxor figures would be impossible. As would it be to express just how grateful for the help and guidance of Marty Hansen, Matt Doughty and True Cast Studio throughout this journey. I'm extremely lucky to have had some of the greatest minds in modern toymaking help me to bring you a Galaxxor that is far beyond what I had ever dreamed it could be.

We're going to kick things off 05.25.16 at 8pm Central at galaxxor.com with Cosmic Supernova Galaxxor/Gorgax-

COSMIC SUPERNOVA GALAXXOR/GORGAX: $28 each, Limit 2 per order Produced in a pearlescent neon green vinyl, these 5.5" figures feature Glyos vinyl-compatible articulation at the head, shoulders and chest/waist. They sport purple eyes and black detail lining on the Gorgax head. Each figure comes with both the dome(Galaxxor) head and the horned(Gorgax/Cyber Space Barbarian) head.

It's also worth noting that, for this batch, a bit of heat and squeezing to the top of the chest piece will be required to swap out the domed head, once it's removed. I can't wait to get these into everyone's hands! And this is just the beginning.

I look forward to bringing you cosmic robotic weirdness for years to come. Thank you to everyone for your support of my little project. It means more to me than you'll ever know.

The Future

One of my good friends from grade school through high school, who I still actually stay in touch with is Matt Denning. Early one Saturday morning, a few months ago, while I was out of town, I rolled over to check my phone and see what time it was. I noticed that I had gotten a text from Matt, saying, "I'm heading to China in a couple of weeks, and I'm taking Galaxxor with me."
Rolling back over and drifting off to sleep, I wondered to myself why Matt was going to China. I was also pretty sure that Mr. Denning doesn't own any Galaxxors. That's when I realized that the text wasn't from Matt Denning, but, in fact, Matt Doughty!
I've been making Galaxxors, with the help of my good friend Marty "The Godbeast" Hansen, for over 5 years, now. Transitioning to a vinyl figure has been the plan from day one. Having been a long time admirer of Onell Design and the Glyos System, it soon became obvious that the best way to bring old Galaxxor to life in production vinyl would be through the Glyos factory in Hong Kong. As the years went on, I developed a friendship with Matt from Onell, and the prospect of a Glyos vinyl production Galaxxor eventually became a reality. In the Fall of 2015, the process began.
The amount of support and guidance that Matt and Marty have given me with this phase of the Galaxxor project is beyond value. There is absolutely no way that I would have been able to do this without their wisdom. There is a great deal of their design expertise in this production figure.
Seriously, those guys deserve some sort of an award, or something, for putting up with me and all of my changes. Ha!
Pictured above are what are called "Mold Masters". They are pre-production vinyl prototypes from which the steel molds for full production vinyl figures get made. Vinyl Galaxxor will be a full sized 5.5" figure with articulation at the head, arms and waist(below the chest). Each figure will include both the dome and the Cyborg space Barbarian head. All pieces will be compatible with other Glyos System vinyl.
I'm currently making a couple of minor adjustments (which have pushed back the official release date a bit), but these images are fairly indicative of what the final production figures will look like. The plan for now is to release these in waves, with various paint decos, and eventually diy editions.
Fingers crossed, super limited edition test shots and the first wave of releases should be popping up in the early months of 2016.
In one sense, it has been quite a journey to get to this point, but in another, the journey is really just about to begin. Thanks to everyone who has supported me, up to this point. I can't wait for you to see what I have in store!
Speaking of "in store". I've still got a couple of leftovers from Designercon up in my online shop. These are probably the last resin Galaxxors. So, jump on them if you still want one.

Galaxxor 015 Designercon 2015 Exclusive from Galaxxor x The Godbeast x Onell Design

Believe it or not, the Galaxxor project just turned 5 years old. It has been a process of learning, developing, missteps, learning from missteps, honing skills, and figuring out what I actually wanted to do. Along the way, the help and support of  Marty "The Godbeast" Hansen and Matt Doughty has been absolutely crucial to Galaxxor's growth. And those guys have continued to support and guide me, as I work toward the next phase of The Galaxxorverse.
So, I felt it was only appropriate that the last (for the foreseeable future, at least) resin 5.5" Galaxxor figure should highlight their amazing contributions. The head sculpt of Galaxxor 015 is all Matt Doughty. We've seen it a couple of times before, years ago at NYCC and a couple of years ago with Infection Galaxxor. The figure is cast in an absolutely gorgeous swirly metallic teal by Mr. Godbeast, himself.

Chronodar's manipulation of the Alpha timelines resulted in a Cosmic Supernova. Swirling, crackling green energies formed into a cosmic vortex right outside of the Anubis-5 system. Realities began converging and colliding. Infinite variations of instances occurred simultaneously. The Alpha was imploding.
Imbued with the power of Ollen, the wise Space Dragon, Galaxxor 015 flew directly into the heart of The Cosmic Supernova.
Summoning all of the power of  The Alpha, he forced the rift shut, folding realities in upon one another. Sonic booms and built to a fever pitch. People and things ceased to exist. Other entities appeared out of nowhere.
And then there was silence.
Order had returned to The Galaxxorverse.
But everything had changed...

Galaxxor 015 is a 5.5" resin art figure that features 3 points of articulation (arms and head). The figure was hand cast in resin by The Godbeast. The original head sculpt is courtesy of Matt Doughty. The original body sculpt and painting duties were handled by Ben Spencer.
Galaxxor 015 comes in a bag and header packaging, is limited to an edition of 5, and will be $90, each. The figure will be exclusively available at Nerd City's booth #1003 at Designer Con, November 21st and 22nd.
Stay tuned for more exclusives, and some truly reality-shattering announcements coming up in the next couple of  weeks. See you at Designer Con!

Infection Galaxxor C2E2 Exclusive from Galaxxor x TGB x Onell Design

Having had such an overwhelmingly great reaction to the NYCC exclusive Galaxxor 010, we always knew that we had to do another version of the figure sporting that expertly designed head by Onell Design's Matt Doughty. Marty "The Godbeast" Hansen and I knew that it looked like he was going to be bringing back his iconic translucent red  Infection colorway at C2E2 this year with a batch of Mini Galaxxors, various Armorvor head and an exclusive launch of Infection red production Glyos Armorvors. It only made sense that the Infection should spread to Galaxxor!
Infection Galaxxor is a 5.5" art toy that features 3 points of articulation (shoulders and neck). The body was sculpted/designed by Ben Spencer and the head was sculpted/designed by Matt Doughty. The figure was cast in translucent Infection red resin by Marty "The Godbeast" Hansen and painted by Ben Spencer. Infection Galaxxor will be $125 each and limited to an edition of 10. The figure will be exclusively available at Nerd city's booth #967 at C2E2, April 26-28th.
I'm truly honored to continue to get the opportunity to collaborate with dudes like Matt and Marty. The work that those guys do in their own creative universes is truly inspirational stuff, and they sure have made my humble little creation look a little bit sweeter!
Stay tuned for 2 or 3 more C2E2 Exclusive announcements in the upcoming week, including some things that you never even expected...

We are Standing at the Edge of Time...

Well, a whole bunch of sci-fi cosmic wheels are in motion behind the scenes in the world of Galaxxor business, and I thought it was probably a good idea to do some sort of an update as to what all of that spinning will be resulting in. First of all, NYCC was a smashing success! The Galaxxor 010 came out magnificently, thanks to a stunning new head sculpt by Matt Doughty (I think that Doughty guy might have a really promising future in toy design!). The Infernicuses(?) and 010's all have found their way to their new homes and the Galaxxor Online Store is currently all sold out. The generosity and hospitality of the Onell/Rawshark gang at NYCC was something that will truly inspire me and motivate me for years to come. The comradery was beyond incredible at that booth. I had the pleasure of spending time with so many fiends and heroes at NYCC that I couldn't even begin to list them all.

Speaking of comradery, The Godbeast and I had some time to have a few beers and chat about the future. Out of those talks came the idea to produce a 2" scale Galaxxor mini figure. So, TGB has gone ahead and sculpted the iconic Monster Hunter Robo in mini figure style and will be the main avenue through which to purchase said mini figures. I do plan to have an exclusive colorway or two over in my shop as well, though. Plan on these little beasts to start dropping by late Novemberish. This is all very exciting, beacuse it's sort of the first officially licensed piece of Galaxxor merchandise. Keep your eyes peeled for lunch boxes, t shirts and massage oils!

About the same time, you should see my first figure from The Lucha Sharks, El Tiberon! TGB and I decided to go with articulation at the shoulders and a sculpted on luchador mask. The molds are being made and the initial prototype of  El Tiberon should be popping up soon after that. I plan to handle Lucha sharks a bit differently, in the sense that I'm going to open up 10 preorder slots and then produce that edition once those slots are filled. This should hopefully allow more collectors a chance to get their hands on my figures. If that works out well, I plan to extend that preorder method to all of my future figures.

I was lucky enough to be able to lend a tiny bit of help with the design of my friend Lee(of BigMan Toys fame)'s awesome Treegar figure. I can't believe how cool that thing came out! Well, I'm also very proud to announce that I'm going to have the pleasure of releasing my own run of Treegar: Psychedlic Nightmare Edition! It's going to be highly tripped out. Stay tuned!

I'm also really happy to report that sculpting has kicked back into high gear on Xenotron. All that I'm really doing is refining some curves and cleaning up some shapes. However, approaching the figure from a fresh angle has really reignited my enthusiasm for the design. I think that I was mistakenly looking at it as a companion piece to Galaxxor in the past when, in actuallity, it's an evolution in the design aesthetic. In many ways, I'm getting the feeling that Xenotron is simplifying some facets of the Galaxxor look, while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of other concepts.
I also decided that he needed a slightly bigger "package".

Finally, it's time to start looking forward to C2E2. I'm in the process of assembling a team of artists working in the 5.5"-style format for a set of exclusives that will put this scene on the map.
The Phalanx is coming!

Cyborg Space Barbarian Infernicus Drops at NYCC!

Perhaps the most feared of General Gorgax's elite cadre of Cyborg Space Barbarians is Infernicus, Dark Champion of the Elemental Flame! This Cyborg Space Barbarian figure consists of a helmet that was originally designed and sculpted by Ben Spencer and produced in resin by Marty "The Godbeast" Hansen. These Cyborg Space Barbarian figures also feature bodies from disused vintage Masters of the Universe figures that were rescued from second hand stores, flea markets and the like, and brought back to brilliant life with hand painting and tlc from Ben Spencer.  This figure is limited to an edition of 6 and will never be produced in this colorway ever again. All 6 Infernicus figures will feature a horned helmet with scarred left eye, The Cloak of Flame and The Infernal Jewel of Kozzuth.

Infernicus will be available for $60 each at Onell Design's booth #3216 in The Block at NYCC, beginning 10.11.12.
Stay tuned for another announcement about the second exclusive, a Galaxxor with a new head sculpted by Onell Design's Matt Doughty!

An Image from the Future?

Last night, somewhere in a fortress in the far reaches of space known as Onell HQ, Marty "The Godbeast" Hansen and Onell Design's Matt Doughty were hard at work sketching out their plans for intergalactic domination and NYCC. During this session, Matt sketched up his ideas for slight modifications to the original Galaxxor design, should it ever move towards a vinyl production figure.
The idea is essentially to maintain the classic 5.5" figure style and dimensions, but to add a little bit of extra visual interest here and there, while also incorporating a bit more in the way of articulation and compatibility with similarly-sized Glyos vinyls like the Armodoc and Rig.
I think the design looks great, and I'm honored that Matt has taken an interest in my humble little creation. What say you?
If you're headed to NYCC this weekend, be sure to pop by the Onell booth (#578 in The Cultyard) to check out all of the awesome stuff that Matt and Marty will have on hand. Marty should have a very limited number of blank DIY Galaxxors, so be sure to get your hands on one of those, too!

DIY, Galaxxor, DIY!

Ever wanted to get your hands on a DIY Galaxxor? Then you might just want to get to NYCC, at the Javits Center in New York, October 13-16! My main man, The Godbeast, will have a suuuuuper limited run of one of a kind, Do-It-Yourself, blank Galaxxors available for just $50 a pop! He will be at the Onell Design booth (#578). While you're there, be sure to check out the super badass selection of toys that both The Godbeast and Onell will have on hand!
Best of luck to those of you that are hoping to score your own DIY Galaxxor! And, be sure to send me pics of your finished figure at ben@nerdcityonline.com.
Sadly, I will not be attending NYCC, myself, this year. I might, however, spend that weekend walking around with a pop bottle full of bourbon, anyway.

Galaxxor 004 features 2 points of articulation and comes packed in a traditional bag and header style with amazing exclusive header card art by Nate Newell. This figure is limited to an edition of 5 and will never be produced in this colorway ever again.

004 Heads and Header

These are images of the front and back of the original sculpt, courtesy of Onell Design's Matt Doughty, for the head of Galaxxor 004. What's really amazing about this piece is that it can essentially function in either direction, as either a visored head or a mutated cyclops brain head. Pure evil genius. It's looking like the head for the 004 edition will come packed with the visor facing forward. However, if there is enough demand (and there certainly seems to be!), the 005 might feature this head as well, or maybe even the other head that Matt sculpted for this project! You can get all of the details of the sculpting process from this entry at the Glyos Transmission Web Log.
You'll just have to wait to see exactly what color The Godbeast will be casting these little monstrosities in, but this outstanding header card art by Dork Dimension's Nate Newell should give you a pretty good indication:

The Galaxxor 004 figure is going to be limited to an edition of 5, will cost $90 and will exclusively be available at Nerd City's booth 1026 at C2E2.

Intercepted Transmissions

These scrambled transmissions hint at the awesomeness that is going to be Galaxxor 004! The fourth figure in the Galaxxor line will be a collaboration with none other than Matt Doughty of Onell Design. Matt has provided an amazing new head sculpt and the body will be the traditional Galaxxor shape. Additionally, header card duties will be handled by the brilliant Nate Newell of Dork Dimension. The mold making and casting will be courtesy of The Godbeast.
These will be limited to an edition of 5 and sold exclusively at Nerd City's booth 1026 at C2E2.
