Megakeshi Galaxxor!

The future is here! My friends, Josh Edwards and The Godbeast at True Cast Studio have been hard at work refining and retooling original Galaxxor sculpt into something a bit sharper and more polished, which also incorporates a new True Cast-engineered articulation/part interchangeability system. The result is essentially a Galaxxor 2.0 design, which, while maintaining all of the visual design of the original, takes the sculpt to the next proverbial level. And speaking of taking things to another level, I now have the ability, through True Cast, to have Galaxxor produced in a keshi-style rubber. I've dubbed the format "Megakeshi", because it incorporates the look and feel of those old M.U.S.C.L.E.-type figures that we all loved, but maintains that classic 5.5" MOTU-type scale. Pictured above is a figure that utilizes the Galaxxor head sculpted by the one and only Matt Doughty, and below is a new head, courtesy of True Cast's Josh Edwards. We will also still be doing the standard dome, Cyborg Space Barbarian, and Gorgax heads. All of these will incorporate the new, interchangeable joint system.

If you're anything like me, you're just dying to get one of these giant hunks of rubber into your hands. Your first chance is going to be at this year's New York Comic Con. Although I'm unfortunately not going to be able to make the show, my partner in crime, The Godbeast, as well as The other True Cast gang will have at least a couple of these dudes for you to play around with at Onell Design's booth #102.
There's quite a bit of exciting stuff coming down the cosmic pipe from the Galaxxorverse in the upcoming months, including an opportunity to score some of these Megakeshi figures for your very own.
Stay tuned!

We are Standing at the Edge of Time...

Well, a whole bunch of sci-fi cosmic wheels are in motion behind the scenes in the world of Galaxxor business, and I thought it was probably a good idea to do some sort of an update as to what all of that spinning will be resulting in. First of all, NYCC was a smashing success! The Galaxxor 010 came out magnificently, thanks to a stunning new head sculpt by Matt Doughty (I think that Doughty guy might have a really promising future in toy design!). The Infernicuses(?) and 010's all have found their way to their new homes and the Galaxxor Online Store is currently all sold out. The generosity and hospitality of the Onell/Rawshark gang at NYCC was something that will truly inspire me and motivate me for years to come. The comradery was beyond incredible at that booth. I had the pleasure of spending time with so many fiends and heroes at NYCC that I couldn't even begin to list them all.

Speaking of comradery, The Godbeast and I had some time to have a few beers and chat about the future. Out of those talks came the idea to produce a 2" scale Galaxxor mini figure. So, TGB has gone ahead and sculpted the iconic Monster Hunter Robo in mini figure style and will be the main avenue through which to purchase said mini figures. I do plan to have an exclusive colorway or two over in my shop as well, though. Plan on these little beasts to start dropping by late Novemberish. This is all very exciting, beacuse it's sort of the first officially licensed piece of Galaxxor merchandise. Keep your eyes peeled for lunch boxes, t shirts and massage oils!

About the same time, you should see my first figure from The Lucha Sharks, El Tiberon! TGB and I decided to go with articulation at the shoulders and a sculpted on luchador mask. The molds are being made and the initial prototype of  El Tiberon should be popping up soon after that. I plan to handle Lucha sharks a bit differently, in the sense that I'm going to open up 10 preorder slots and then produce that edition once those slots are filled. This should hopefully allow more collectors a chance to get their hands on my figures. If that works out well, I plan to extend that preorder method to all of my future figures.

I was lucky enough to be able to lend a tiny bit of help with the design of my friend Lee(of BigMan Toys fame)'s awesome Treegar figure. I can't believe how cool that thing came out! Well, I'm also very proud to announce that I'm going to have the pleasure of releasing my own run of Treegar: Psychedlic Nightmare Edition! It's going to be highly tripped out. Stay tuned!

I'm also really happy to report that sculpting has kicked back into high gear on Xenotron. All that I'm really doing is refining some curves and cleaning up some shapes. However, approaching the figure from a fresh angle has really reignited my enthusiasm for the design. I think that I was mistakenly looking at it as a companion piece to Galaxxor in the past when, in actuallity, it's an evolution in the design aesthetic. In many ways, I'm getting the feeling that Xenotron is simplifying some facets of the Galaxxor look, while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of other concepts.
I also decided that he needed a slightly bigger "package".

Finally, it's time to start looking forward to C2E2. I'm in the process of assembling a team of artists working in the 5.5"-style format for a set of exclusives that will put this scene on the map.
The Phalanx is coming!

Onell Design x Galaxxor Crossover Galaxxor 010 for NYCC

I am  happy to announce that I have once again had the honor of collaborating with a designer who's artistic vision never ceases to amaze me, Matt Doughty of Onell Design. Matt did an amazing job on the head sculpt of this next iteration of the Monster Hunter Robo.
And you can get your hands on one of your very own, tomorrow through Thursday at New York Comic Con. The Godbeast and I will be at Onell's booth #3216 in The Block from 6-9pm on Thursday, 1-4pm on Friday and 1-4pm on Saturday.
This classic 5.5" action figure-style resin art toy features a body that was sculpted by Ben Spencer and hand cast in resin by The Godbeast as well as a head that was sculpted by Matt Doughty. Additionally, the figure was painted by Matt Doughty. Galaxxor 010 features 3 points of articulation and comes packed in a traditional bag and header style with exclusive header card art Ben Spencer. This figure is limited to an edition of 5 for NYCC.
Galaxxor 010 will be $125 each and available exclusively at booth #3216.

Cyborg Space Barbarian Infernicus Drops at NYCC!

Perhaps the most feared of General Gorgax's elite cadre of Cyborg Space Barbarians is Infernicus, Dark Champion of the Elemental Flame! This Cyborg Space Barbarian figure consists of a helmet that was originally designed and sculpted by Ben Spencer and produced in resin by Marty "The Godbeast" Hansen. These Cyborg Space Barbarian figures also feature bodies from disused vintage Masters of the Universe figures that were rescued from second hand stores, flea markets and the like, and brought back to brilliant life with hand painting and tlc from Ben Spencer.  This figure is limited to an edition of 6 and will never be produced in this colorway ever again. All 6 Infernicus figures will feature a horned helmet with scarred left eye, The Cloak of Flame and The Infernal Jewel of Kozzuth.

Infernicus will be available for $60 each at Onell Design's booth #3216 in The Block at NYCC, beginning 10.11.12.
Stay tuned for another announcement about the second exclusive, a Galaxxor with a new head sculpted by Onell Design's Matt Doughty!

An Image from the Future?

Last night, somewhere in a fortress in the far reaches of space known as Onell HQ, Marty "The Godbeast" Hansen and Onell Design's Matt Doughty were hard at work sketching out their plans for intergalactic domination and NYCC. During this session, Matt sketched up his ideas for slight modifications to the original Galaxxor design, should it ever move towards a vinyl production figure.
The idea is essentially to maintain the classic 5.5" figure style and dimensions, but to add a little bit of extra visual interest here and there, while also incorporating a bit more in the way of articulation and compatibility with similarly-sized Glyos vinyls like the Armodoc and Rig.
I think the design looks great, and I'm honored that Matt has taken an interest in my humble little creation. What say you?
If you're headed to NYCC this weekend, be sure to pop by the Onell booth (#578 in The Cultyard) to check out all of the awesome stuff that Matt and Marty will have on hand. Marty should have a very limited number of blank DIY Galaxxors, so be sure to get your hands on one of those, too!

DIY, Galaxxor, DIY!

Ever wanted to get your hands on a DIY Galaxxor? Then you might just want to get to NYCC, at the Javits Center in New York, October 13-16! My main man, The Godbeast, will have a suuuuuper limited run of one of a kind, Do-It-Yourself, blank Galaxxors available for just $50 a pop! He will be at the Onell Design booth (#578). While you're there, be sure to check out the super badass selection of toys that both The Godbeast and Onell will have on hand!
Best of luck to those of you that are hoping to score your own DIY Galaxxor! And, be sure to send me pics of your finished figure at ben@nerdcityonline.com.
Sadly, I will not be attending NYCC, myself, this year. I might, however, spend that weekend walking around with a pop bottle full of bourbon, anyway.
