Lucha Sharks!

Things are about to kick into overdrive for my latest toy project, The Lucha Sharks! You probably know all about the figures by now, but you might not necessarily know exactly how those beer loving anthropomorphic Luchadors fit into the Galaxxorverse. You could even call Lucha Sharks a "spinnoff". Indeed it is truly the Family Matters to Galaxxor's Perfect Strangers.

 

Following General Gorgax's conquering of Xanthos and assembly of his Cyborg Space Barbarian retinue, he amassed The Evil Mutant Legion as his army of intergalactic domination. Of the warriors of The Evil Mutant Legion, none was more fierce and powerful than Tiburonicus, The Bloodthirsty Berzerker Sharkman. Following the conquest of numerous solar systems, Tiburonicus was finally brought to justice by Galaxxor 003 and taken back to his home planet, Hive World X-544.

Universally renowned for their love of gladiatorial combat, the people of X-544 called out for the infamous berzerker to be thrown into the combat pits to fight for their entertainment. Rising to stardom on X-544, Tiburonicus made short work of every opponent he faced, as well as most of the pit staff and a good deal of the fans in the crowd. Following his rapid rise to fame, Tiburonicus was quickly banished to an underground cell laboratory.

Years later, clones of Tiburonicus returned to the gladiatorial pits, this time, they were equipped with Luchatronic helmets. These helmets kept the killer instinct and super strength of the Sharkmen clones intact but replaced the extreme berzerker bloodlust of their gene father with a keen instinct for solving mysteries and an insatiable appetite for hotwings and beer.

Galaxxor 003 Drops 03.04.11 at Noon CST

From the hive world X-544 comes the twisted third Galaxxor: Monster Hunter Robo, Galaxxor 003! This classic 5.5" action figure-style resin art toy was sculpted by Ben Spencer, hand cast in black light reactive magenta resin by The Godbeast and hand painted by Ben Spencer. It also features a neon green glow-in-the dark brain! Galaxxor 003 features 2 points of articulation and comes packed in a traditional bag and header style with exclusive header card art by Steve Seeley. This figure is limited to an edition of 5 and will never be produced in this colorway ever again.

Galaxxor 003 will be available for $90 each on 03.04.11 at noon CST, exclusively from The Galaxxor Online Store.

Here is an image of the final paint scheme for the Galaxxor 003 colorway. The body is a blacklight reactive magenta resin with purple and neon green hand painted detailing. The dome is a crystal clear blacklight reactive material and it houses a glow in the dark neon green brain with black paint rub detailing.
More pics and official drop info coming soon, but I would expect the official release to be towards the end of February, as this figure is fairly labor intensive. Once again the edition size for this will be 5.

003 WIP

Well, I know that I just recently posted the blacklight glowing image of this guy from The Godbeast, but I wanted to get up a pic asap to show just how cool this neon magenta resin looks without any blacklight help! The overall brightness of the plastic does tend to play some funny tricks with the camera, but, through the magic of Photoshop, I feel I have fairly accurately conveyed how intense the magenta truly is.
I have also begun messing around with a black paint rub technique, to really pop the details of the glow in the dark neon green brain contained in that pointy dome that the 003 has. I'm pretty certain that I'm going to stick with the rub, but am certainly open to any feedback.
Also worth noting is that there are still 2 Galaxxor 002's left in the shop. So, if you're thinking that you want one of them, be sure to grab it here.

Unpainted Glowing Galaxxor 003

Straight from The Godbeast comes this sneak peek preview picture of an unpainted Galaxxor 003! What you're seeing here is a blacklight glow image of the figure. It will consist of a uv reactive neon magenta body, a new crystal clear uv reactive dome and a neon green glow in the dark brain! Keep watching the blog for more 003 updates very soon.
